What we TreatDrug Addiction
Drug addiction is a challenging illness that impacts millions of lives. Drug addiction is one of the most highly misunderstood topics among society.
What we Treat
Drug addiction is a chronic illness that causes lack of control, and compulsive behaviour amongst individuals seeking drugs; despite the harmful consequences. The initial use of drugs is commonly spontaneous; as an individual continues to seek drugs, their brain is altered: interfering with their ability to maintain self-control, and resist intense urges to take drugs. Many brain alterations caused by drug use are perpetual: explaining why some addicts relapse easily. Drug addiction, in most cases, is accompanied by a predominant mental illness left untreated: depression, anxiety, and trauma are commonly associated with drug addiction.
